Prizes included diamond earrings, flat screen TVs, Canon Cameras and one lucky winner won a 2009 Chevy Malibu Hybrid. Mario Cantone of &#8220;Sex &amp; the City&#8221; hammed it up as the show&#8217;s motor mouth emcee and on Tuesday, June 23rd, legendary Lets Make a Deal host Monty Hall joined Cantone in running the show. There were five games and 60 contestants daily. Consumers also had a chance to play a mobile version running outside on the NASDAQ digital billboard in Times Square by texting their answers or online playing the game at ebay.com/dailydealgame for a chance to win up to $25,000 in prizes.</p>

<p>    Eric Allman is the original author of sendmail, and a long time contributor to Berkeley UNIX. He also wrote the -me macros, tset, trek, syslog, and vacation. Besides UNIX and sendmail, Eric has worked on database management, window systems, neural-net-based speech recognition, system administration, and networking.</p>
<p>    Allman is Chief Science Officer and co-founder of Sendmail, Inc. Before joining Sendmail, Allman served as CTO for Sift, Inc., which is now part of 24/7 Media, Inc. He was lead developer and provided a large-scale research software infrastructure on the Mammoth project at U.C. Berkeley. Allman has contributed as a senior developer at the International Computer Science Institute to neural network systems design. Allman was also Chief Programmer on the INGRES Relational Database Management System.</p>
<p>    Formerly, Allman co-authored the &#8220;C Advisor&#8221; column for UNIX Review magazine and was a member of the Board of Directors of USENIX Association. He is currently a Program Chair for the Conference on Email and Anti-Spam and a member of the ACM Queue Editorial Review Board and the Board of Trustees of Cal Performances.</p>
<p>    Allman holds an Masters of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley.</p>
<p>Abstract:</p>
<p>    Email existed before the Internet was invented, and grew with the Internet over six orders of magnitude. Email has gone from serving a small community of highly technical colleagues to being ubiquitous, even for people who are not technically adept. It has changed from a tiny, no-profit service to a billion dollar business.</p>
<p>    But email has not gone without growing pains. Spam, viruses, and phishing are just two examples of malware that didn&#8217;t even exist when email was born. Email has changed both business and social lives in ways both good and bad. Some of those pressures have pushed users from email to Instant Messaging and Social Networking. Today the research and development of email has focused on control, either &#8220;on the wire&#8221; (anti-spam, data loss prevention, etc.) or directly for the user (such as mobile access or managing information overload).</p>
<p>    This talk covers the history of email and reviews where we are today, including current technologies such as email authentication (DKIM and SenderID) and reputation. It concludes with some personal speculation about how email will continue to grow both short- and long-term.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img src="http://i.ytimg.com/vi/gnsM8i0JiOs/2.jpg" align="left">Terrified at the prospect of a major breakthrough by the British National Party on June 4th, the controlled media has launched a coordinated campaign to try and talk up the long-dead UKIP party as an alternative protest vote channel, Simon Darby, BNP deputy leader and press spokesman has said.</p>
<p>The most recent effort has come with a new opinion poll by BPIX, which has been given great prominence, allegedly showing a rise in support for UKIP, Mr Darby said.</p>
<p>The reality is that BPIX is, in polling company terms, a virtual unknown and is not even a member of the industry standard British Polling Council, Mr Darby said. They have hardly ever been used before but now, because they have a poll which boosts UKIP, they have the centre stage of attention.</p>
<p>BPIX is supposed to be an Internet based polling company, but their own website, viewable here (and cached here just in case) has been static as under construction for years. All of this makes the origin and source of their polls highly suspect, Mr Darby said.</p>
<p>The media are also dutifully playing their part in trying to boost UKIP. Mr Darby pointed out that on 5 May 2009, The Telegraph, under a headline UKIP set to struggle after 2004 poll success predicted that UKIP was finished, but now less than two weeks later UKIP is suddenly decreed the second biggest party. It is a laughable deception which fools no one, Mr Darby said.</p>
<p>He pointed to a current online opinion poll by the London Daily News, which had UKIP at 3.25 percent and the BNP at 32 percent as one example of how by selectively quoting different polls, different results could  be created.</p>
<p>Reports published on 23 March 2009 said that Gordon Browns own office predicted that the BNP would win seven Euro seats. That poll has also now been discarded by the media in their anti-BNP frenzy, he said.</p>
<p>The reality is that the public response to the BNPs campaign has been overwhelming. We now have thirteen full-time staff who are taking in excess of 2,000 calls per day at the party call centre.</p>
<p>We are signing up 200 new members to the BNP every day at the call centre operation alone. This excludes online or postal membership applications. The call centres are adding £3,000 per day to party coffers.</p>
<p>The mobile phone text response rate averages at 1,500 per day, and we have had to employ an additional four speed typists to simply capture all the data that is coming in, Mr Darby continued.</p>
<p>We havent even started opening the sacks of mail that have been pouring in since the end of last week, but there are tens of thousands of letter responses to the first wave of leaflets &#8211; and we still have tens of thousands of pounds of advertising to come over the next two and half weeks, plus a giant billboard advertising campaign the likes of which will never have been seen before.</p>
<p>Given all of that, we laugh at the feeble media attempts to talk up UKIP at our expense. Polling day will tell the true story, and we are working flat out for the time when the traitors in Swillminster and the controlled media will be forced to eat their words.
